Booking terms
How booking a performer for a private event works on ShareTheStage: the quote, paying, cancelling, and what we do if something goes wrong.
These terms are a draft and are being reviewed by our lawyer. Until they are final, bookings are between members testing the service, online payment is off, and hosts pay acts directly. Draft of September 24, 2026.
Section 1
Who these terms are for
They apply when someone who is not a venue (a "host") asks a performer (an "act") for a quote for a private event on ShareTheStage, and when a host books an act from that quote. They add to our Terms of Service; where the two differ on a booking, these terms apply.
Section 2
The quote is the agreement
An act's quote sets the price, what's included, the performance time, any deposit, the cancellation policy and any additional terms. When the host books it and ticks "this quote is our agreement", that quote is the agreement between the host and the act. ShareTheStage is not a party to it, and additional terms cannot override the cancellation policy.
Only the latest quote from an act can be booked. A quote expires on the date it shows, and never later than a day before the event.
Section 3
Paying
While online payment is off (today): booking sends the act a request, and the act confirms the date. The host pays the act directly, as they agree. ShareTheStage charges no fee, takes no payment and holds no money, and the Booking Guarantee below does not apply. Anything paid directly follows the cancellation policy on the quote, between the host and the act.
Once online payment is on: the host pays the act's price plus a 10% ShareTheStage service fee by card when booking. The act receives 100% of their price: any deposit on the date shown on the quote, and the rest the day after the event. ShareTheStage holds the balance until after the event.
Section 4
Cancelling
If the host cancels, the cancellation policy on the quote decides what comes back. The service fee is not refunded, unless the host cancels within 24 hours of booking and the event is at least 14 days away, in which case everything is refunded.
If the act cancels, the host gets a full refund of anything paid through ShareTheStage, including the service fee, and we reopen the request to the other acts who quoted. Acts who cancel within 14 days of an event, or twice in 12 months, have their booking requests paused while we review it.
Changing the date or time: message each other first. When both of you agree in your ShareTheStage messages, our support team updates the booking.
Section 5
ShareTheStage Booking Guarantee
When you book and pay through ShareTheStage, we hold your payment and pay the act on the schedule shown on your quote: any deposit on the date shown there, and the rest the day after your event. The balance stays with us until after your event.
If the act cancels, or doesn't show up, you get a full refund, including our service fee. For a no-show, tell us with "Report a problem" within 24 hours after the scheduled end of your event, while we are still holding the balance. The act gets 24 hours to reply, and then we decide. If an act cancels, we'll reopen your request to the other acts who quoted and help you find a replacement, but we can't promise one.
If you cancel, the act's cancellation policy on your quote decides what comes back, and our service fee is not refunded, unless you cancel within 24 hours of booking and your event is at least 14 days away, in which case everything is refunded.
Not covered:
- disagreements about taste or quality (we'll help you both talk it through, and a partial refund needs the act's agreement);
- anything arranged or paid outside ShareTheStage;
- bookings marked "pay the act directly";
- changes you agreed outside your ShareTheStage messages.
Refunds are issued within 2 business days and take 5-10 business days to reach your card. Keep your plans in your ShareTheStage messages: that thread is the record we use if anything goes wrong.
Section 6
For acts
Once a host has paid through ShareTheStage, you are paid for the date as long as you play it as agreed. If the card turns out to be stolen, or it's shown that the event didn't happen as booked, we may take back payouts already sent. ShareTheStage never asks you to send money back.
Section 7
Safety
ShareTheStage does not run background checks on acts or hosts. Hosts must be 18 or older. Contact details stay hidden until a booking is confirmed; keep talking on ShareTheStage until then.
